For those of you who have a huge DVDs/books collection today we want to present an interesting idea that was implemented by Johan from Sweden. He used affrodable pieces of IKEA LACK components to build the greatest home theater storage I’ve ever saw until now. Looks like it was a beautiful finished DIY project. A backrest, seat or protective shelter, Jonas Lyndby Jensen’s “Twist Chair” is something that would make an amazing accent seat for a bedroom. A creative addition to circular or curvilinear interior themes, the fabric choice, by Morten la Cour, was actually chosen because it echoes the naturalistic, protective design of a bird’s nest. Originally developed for use in a public library, the Twisted Chair is built from a single twisted band and has the added bonus of serving as a sound barrier for people who are interested in stealing away moments of quiet isolation to read their newest books on the Eames design process or check on up Freshome from their laptops

igel Coates’s Slamp Designs

The creative lighting design company Slamp presented designer Nigel Coate’s lighting sculptures this year at Euroluce in Milan to much enthusiasm and prospect. The first design, inspired by sea urchins and titled “Creatures,” is a colorful and exciting combination of lines and curvy shapes that remains modernist while bordering on exceptionally ornate. Designed for three different sizes, a “Creature” light (or two) would make a striking visual emphasis for a fun room.

Today I’ve discovered a new piece that could be presented in this collection. This sofa is called Montanara and it was designed by Gaetano Pesce. This sofa creates the illusion of a mountain scene right in your living room, including cushion waterfalls and jagged support peaks of doom. Very creative, beautiful and also relaxing.

Khyber Ridge Residence by Studio NminusOne

NminusOne may not be the most innovative name for a design office, but the creativity of the architects definitely got us sold. Commissioned for Marc Morisset— a professional snowboarder, the five storey house is built like a shredder following the line of a steep mountain. Perfectly blending with the green environment, the Khyber Ridge Residence adds a tinge of “floating” and a bunch of unconventional details that get the eye. And although it looks old and worn, the interior is all about contemporary shapes and elegant furnishings, for more warmth (maybe during winter?). That’s nothing short of cool.

Victorian Terrace House Extension by Ailtireacht Architects

The extension for this Victorian Terrace House in Rathgar, has been commissioned by Dublin-based Ailtireacht Architects to create an additional multifunctional livingspace, that would meet the growing needs of a growing family. And they managed in the most stylish way. Made from light-grey zinc foil wraps and featuring some colourfully glazed projections, the generously proportioned house adds a tinge of contemporary functionality to a two-storey building house. With an additional bathroom, bedroom and work space, Matilde House has now become a cozy place to live. It looks like the place we’d move in, to blend both looks and the beautiful three-dimensional realm.

Tetris Furniture by Diego Silverio and Helder Filipov

Tetris is one of the most classic and phenomenal games ever created. Even over two decades later, the interest and hype still continues. Tetris is so popular, that two artists, Diego Silverio and Helder Filipov, have created epic and modern pieces of furniture which are modeled after the famed tetriminoes. Designed to be multi-functional (as desks, shelves, drawers or tables), these pieces offer functional storage, colorful design, and superiorly built frames. Surprisingly, each piece is designed to be able to stand alone or fit with the other tetris “pieces”.

House Prices Decline, Again

House prices across the world are declining by massive percentages, and less than a year ago prices were set to 15% more than they currently are. That’s a drastic drop when you consider everyone who has been affected. And even when prices rise (like the rise seen in March), they quickly drop by the same amount, if not more. What does this mean for the housing market? It’s getting worse, slowly but surely, and projected losses are expected to go down at least another percent within the next few months. However there’s one good side of the story. The state of the economy “seems” beneficial for those interested in purchasing a new home and have the money to do so. So what do you think? Dubbed the Brighton House, it features 4 gorgeous bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, with stunning views of the Melbourne bay and actually the entire city. A contemporary and minimalist design that allows for a feeling of open space, relaxation, and comfort, the luxurious residence is much more pleasant than you would expect because it is crafted to maximize the spacial feel it emanates. With alabaster white walls offer a bright atmosphere, high ceilings and large glass windows that offer natural light and a breathtaking view of the entire yard, that’s a house we’d move in today.
